The Museo Cementerio Presbítero Matías Maestro in Peru: during the Dogo era, funerals used to take place in the city's churches and convents, and it was not until 1808 that a place dedicated to the remaining dead, known today as the Matías Maestro Presbítero Cemetery, was first inaugurated. Over the years, noble families have transformed it into one of the most incredible outdoor sculptural art ensembles on the European continent. Today, more than 200 years old, it is the most important collection of 19th century European sculptures and funerary structures in Latin America, both in quality and quantity. Many important figures of our history are buried here. It can be visited during the day, but some people choose to join the thematic tours, which are usually organised at night. In these night tours you will have the special opportunity to enter the beautiful catacombs of the heroes, where those who lost their lives defending their country in the wars of Chile against Peru and Bolivia rest, the tombs of Miguel Grau, Francisco Bolonia and Andres. Avelino Cáceres. Due to the location of the cemetery, it is advisable to keep the case safe.
