Strolling through the Parque del Amor

Lima corner one of the 50 most romantic destinations in the world

Love Park

There is no love without a park. A place of promises, declarations and cuddling. If any park is well versed in these matters, it is the one shaped in 1993 by the artist Víctor Delfín, during the administration in Miraflores of the late Alberto Andrade. Since then, the Park of Love Strolling through the Park of Love is a symbol and a magnet for couples who come from all over and find, in front of the sea and in the company of these two lovers who kiss eternally, the ideal setting to live out their idyll.

Celebration of love

The Parque del Amor was inaugurated on 14 February 1993. It is located on the Malecón Cisneros, next to the Villena Bridge, in Miraflores. It is the work of the Peruvian artist Víctor Delfín, who designed the park and the sculpture "El beso" for Pasear por el Parque del Amor, commissioned by the Miraflores mayor Alberto Andrade. At the inauguration there was live music and the park was full of people.

Two giants kiss

"The Kiss" went from being a small bronze sculpture cast 70 by 30 centimetres, to a colossal replica of cement, clay and red pigment measuring 8.02 metres wide by 7.31 metres high. Victor Delfin was inspired by the couples he saw on the Costa Verde, drew them and then modelled them in clay. Finally, he had the work he liked best cast in bronze and placed it in his office.

Delfín and Andrade strolled along the cliffs and thus arrived at Pasear por el Love Park an area where there was a sculpture by the artist César Campos, which in Delfín's words looked abandoned and in the middle of rubbish. At that moment, they discovered a couple who, on seeing the retinue, became frightened and tried to escape.

Names and verses

The park's design is inspired by Barcelona's Park Güell, the famous work of the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. The surroundings are decorated with verses by Peruvian poets, among them Pablo Guevara, Martín Adán, César Moro, and Emilio Adolfo Westphalen; but you can also read the names of historical couples.

A world-famous kiss

In 2017, National Geographic included Parque del Amor in its list of the 50 most romantic destinations in the world. The publication highlighted among its attractions the possibility of appreciating the sunset with a privileged view of the ocean Strolling through the Parque del Amor Pacifico, as well as its emblematic sculpture.
