Legend has it that Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo arrived here after travelling many kilometres looking for the right place to create the Inca Empire. The Plaza de Armas of Cuzco is located in the city of Cuzco, Peru. It is located in the historic centre of the city.
The Plaza de Armas in the Inca period:
Aucaypata, Huacaypata or Huacapata: this was the place that the Inca used for important meetings. It is also said that this part of the square was used as a concentration camp for battles.

The square is, of course, a tourist destination like many others. You can find any variety of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, museums, craft shops, fast food outlets and more.
During the year, very important and traditional festivities are celebrated in Cusco, such as Corpus Christi (no exact date, but it is usually at the end of May or the beginning of June) and the Festival of the Sun (24th June).
In addition, you can find tourist services from the same square to the 7 Colores Mountain, the Humantay Lagoon, Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, etc.
As you can appreciate, the Plaza de Armas of Cusco is important for every cultural period through which it has passed, always fulfilling some particular purpose: celebrations, meetings, commerce.
