The Inca Garcilaso de la Vega stadium is a football stadium located in the city of Cusco, Peru. It is the largest and most emblematic stadium in the city, and is home to the football team Real Garcilaso.
The stadium was opened in 1950 and has been refurbished several times over the years to bring it up to international football standards. It can now hold more than 40,000 spectators and has modern facilities such as changing rooms, press rooms and broadcast booths.
The name of the stadium is a tribute to the Spanish poet and writer Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, who was born in Cusco in the 16th century and is considered one of the great chroniclers of Latin American history.
It has been the venue for important sporting events, such as the 2004 Copa América and the 2012 Copa Sudamericana. As well as numerous matches of the Peruvian football championship. It is also used for concerts and other cultural and sporting events in the region.
